His aunts and uncles are Jamie East, Tobi and Preston Hancock of Arizona, and Amanda and Eddie Dominguez of Cedar City, Utah. He also has five cousins. Welcome to the world. Tyler Richard Rowland Tyler Richard Rowland has been called to serve in the Brazil Porto Alegre South Mission and will be speaking Oct. 26, 2008 at 9 a.m. in the Cottonwood Ward at the Enoch Stake Center, 3575 N. Minersville Highway. Tyler is the son of Paul and Holly Rowland of Cedar City.

Corbin William Kirkham Our little miracle, Corbin, will celebrate his first birthday on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008. He is the son of Stacy Mitchell and Chance Kirkham. Corbin was born 4 months early, weighing in at 1 pound, 7 ounces. He has played a long hard game, but victory is near. We have learned so much from this little man. His proud grandparents are Chuck and Kathy Mitchell of Enoch, and Tracy and Cindy Kirkham of Summit. Corbin is the great-grandson of "Mimi" Jean Kirkham, the late Roger Chidester (Betty) of West Jordan, Reg Miles of Centerville, and Sharon Boyter of Milford. He has a fan club of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. We love you Corbin and are happy to have you on our team!

Russell McKee Sevy Russell McKee Sevy celebrated his 80th birthday on Oct. 13, 2008. Russell was born in Cedar City, Utah. Before his retirement, he was active in the sheep industry and was a member of the Iron County Wool Growers Association. A celebration took place with family members, including his wife, Wanda Sevy. His life-long adage is “Eat Lamb, Wear Wool!” It's been a great 80 years, and is only getting better!
Charles Curtis Bacon
Charles Curtis Bacon, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 8, 2008. He was born to Gay Bacon and Rosa Ellen Costner on Sept. 26, 1915, in Patterson, Mo. He was the last of his family line. Charles served in the Navy for two tours of duty from 1934 to 1940 and again from 1950 to 1953. He worked 37 years for the U.S. government as a quality control officer and contract administrator. Charles married his sweetheart, Joan Parker, whom he met while serving his country. They were married on Nov. 29, 1936, in San Pedro, Calif. Charles, Joan, and their daughter, Shirley, joined the LDS church in Glendale, Calif. in 1966. Their son, Charles Gay and his family joined the church earlier while living in Ogden, Utah. They were sealed as an eternal family a year later in the Los Angeles Temple. Charles Gay preceded his father in death in 1992. Charles was a faithful and devoted member of his church. Charles is survived by his wife of 71 years; daughter, Shirley Ann (Jerry) Jensen; daughter -in-law, Jill Visnak Bacon; nine grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Two grandchildren proceeded in death. Services were Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, in the Enoch 4th Ward Building, at 1390 E. Midvalley Road, Enoch. There was a viewing before the service. Interment will be in the Enoch City Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Swindlehurst Funeral Home, 2113 N. Main Street, Cedar City, (435) 867-5566. Faye Barton
Faye Arlene Barton, age 66, went home to her Heavenly Father Oct. 14, 2008. She was born Nov. 13, 1941 in Las Vegas, Nev. to Terry and Jennie Swyers. She married Bart Barton on July 28, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nev. She fulfilled the lives of many as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Faye was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and greatly enjoyed her calling in preparing the sacrament program for some time. Faye was an avid baseball/sports fan, especially when her kids played. She was also a music lover and looked forward to every holiday when she decorated her home and yard for all to enjoy. She was a faithful fan of her San Diego Chargers, relentlessly rooting them on every single game. Faye very much enjoyed fishing with family and friends. Above all, Faye cherished spending time with her 15 grandchildren. Faye is survived by her husband, Bart; her four children, Terry, Barbara, David, Annette, and their spouses; her brother Terry (Joyce) Sawyers, and sister Pat (Nolan) Leavitt; dozens of nieces and nephews; and 15 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving mother and father. Funeral services were Oct. 18, 2008. Interment took place at the Hurricane Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, (435) 673-2454. Arthur Barney Evans
Arthur Barney Evans, 91, passed away peacefully, Oct. 15, 2008 in this home after a long, healthy, and industrious life. Born on July 3, 1917, Art was the second of four children born to John Arthur Evans and Sarah (Sadie) Elizabeth Barney of Parowan. Arthur "Cherry Red" Evans was a well-known cattle rancher who loved people and was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Arthur chose Hazel Dawn Daly to be his life-long dance partner. Married Feb. 22, 1941, their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple Feb. 28, 1946. Dad spent his life working hard to provide for his sweetheart and family. He started the Evans' Bro. Coal and Trucking business with his brother Alma and was partners with his son Doug in the trucking and coal business, but his real love was cattle ranching and being a steward of the land. He loved "Little Creek Ranch" and made his dream come true by building the little creek cabin as a gathering place for his family. He also shared the cabin with hundreds of other families throughout the years. A dedicated member of the LDS church he served as scout master, in the ward seventies quorum, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School president, high councilman, and a faithful home teacher. Art and Hazel Dawn also served a temple mission in the St. George LDS Temple for nine years. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Hazel Dawn Daly; children, Sherry Dawn Nielsen (Allen), Vicky Anne Anderson (Ron), Pauline Applegate (Steve), Debra Johnson (Kevin), Helen Turnbaugh (Larry), April Melanie LeFevre (Layne), and Dan Daly Evans (Lauri); daughter-in-law, Darlene Evans; brother Alma Evans; 42 grandchildren; and 72 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Arthur Evans and Sarah Elizabeth Barney; son, Douglas Arthur Evans; daughter-in-law, Christine Bell Tincher; brother, Harry Dee Evans; grandchildren, Dustyn Dan Evans, Dustin Dean Pierson, Christina Darlene Evans. Art will be greatly missed. He leaves behind a wonderful example and legacy. He truly found joy in his journey. Services were Monday, Oct. 20 in the Parowan 3rd and 4th LDS ward chapel. There was a visitation Sunday, Oct, 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 20 before the services, in the Parowan 3rd and 4th ward LDS Relief Society Room.
Perry LaVon Houston
Perry LaVon Houston, age 67, passed from this life into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Oct. 15, 2008 in Henderson, Nev. Perry was born to John Lemueland Dora Hunt Houston on Aug. 22, 1941 in Overton, Nev. Perry married Shirley Gubler on Sept. 22, 1961. Seven beautiful children were born to this union. They later divorced. Perry married Bonnie Moore on Nov. 14, 2000. He became a loving stepfather to her children. They resided in Hurricane, Utah for a time. They then moved to Sandy Valley, Nev. where their home has been for several years. Perry was raised in Mesquite, Nev. where he spent many happy days helping out his parents, taking piano lessons, and living life to the fullest. In high school, he was recognized and stood out for his musical talent. Playing his trumpet brought him a lot of joy. After graduation he moved to Cedar City for a time and attended CSU (now SUU). There he practiced driving fast in the snow. Perry believed in work. He took pride in his work and providing for those he loved. He believed a man should stand on his own two feet and not wait around for a handout. He knew, and taught his children, that the ability to work is a privilege and a blessing not to be taken for granted. Perry sold auto parts, worked for Nielson Brothers, and eventually went on to own his own service station in Las Vegas. He later moved to LaVerkin, Utah and bought the Dairy Freeze in Hurricane. To make the commute between them easier, he fulfilled a lifelong dream and bought an airplane. He learned to fly it later. Perry spent some time working in the mines with an uncle at Jeffery City, Wyo. Later, Perry ran a service station in Mesquite, Nev. After the service station, he went into the trucking business. He worked as a driver, a mechanic, and a dispatcher. Trucking was his career for the rest of his life. Perry had a passion for life. He will always be remembered for his one-of-a-kind wit, charm, and sense of humor. He liked bacon and eggs, good music, and loved his family. Perry is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Alton, and granddaughter Mechelle Houston. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, his children, John (Annette) Houston, Rick (Lori) Houston, Kelly (Blanca) Houston, Clay (Jennifer) Houston, Annie (Vance) Lindsay, Sherrie (Erik) Mackelprang, and Susanna (Kelly) Jones; his stepchildren, Thad (Chari) Hartman, Danny (Tammy) Hartman, Mindi (Matthew) Williams, Skye (Andy) Blaha; and a truck load of grandkids as well as a few great-grandkids. He is also survived by his sister-in–law Noma Houston and his siblings, Jacklyn (Conrad) Chapman, Nita (Max) Iverson, and Fred (Michelle) Houston. Services were at the LDS chapel in Sandy Valley, Nev. Monday, Oct. 20. A viewing was before the services. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations.
