The fluted bi-directional rotating bezel turns smoothly and is quite different from the Navitimer, with its smooth, downward-sloping top, white hour markers and numerals, and red reference point. The fluted section continues the sharp, tapered downward slope and, in contrast to the Navitimer, the raised section is not exactly parallel to the flutes. the Mosquito bezel ring is also coated with ADLC, which, unlike the anthracite color of the DLC coating used by Breitling for many years, turns a deep, dark black.
The “Diamond Black” ADLC coating was developed specifically for luxury goods. Its hardness and resistance to impact and scratches as well as its elegant black metallic color make this carbon-based coating ideal for replica watches. The gas-based process and the low coating temperature of fewer than 200 degrees C are ideal for coating complex shapes and sensitive materials. 2 to 3 microns of coating retain the structure of polished or matte surfaces. Diamond Black is hypoallergenic and resistant to acidic and alkaline chemicals and solvents. Due to its good frictional properties, Diamond black can also be used as a coating for mechanical watch parts. It reduces the need for lubrication and extends maintenance periods. Here, however, it is not used for fake watch movements.
The eye-catching hand with its orange frame indicating the main time dominates the top of the dial. The same color is repeated on the small hand of the stopwatch function and on the tip of the central stopwatch hand. Although these elements do not glow, the primary hand, together with the hour numerals and markers and the 12 small triangles on the minutes/seconds track at the edge of the dial, glows bright green in the dark. In daylight, the white Super-LumiNova contrasts with the black dial to enhance readability.
The minute track on the edge of the dial is based on the original reference 634, with a triangular marker pointing inward every five minutes, minutes with extensions, and thinner line markers representing zero seconds. The large Arabic numerals come from Ref. 765 AVI, which rose to fame among pilots as the “co-pilot”. The three silvered sub-dials and the numerals on the bezel can also be found in these earlier models.
